You head south. This room has an apparently bottomless chasm, a door to the north, a door to the west, a bed of straw, some device mounted to the wall and emitting light, and what appears to be half of a sundial engraved in the floor (with a crystal on one end).

Examine sundial.

Engraved into the floor is what appears to be half of a sundial. Where the sundial meets the wall, there is some sort of crystal embedded in the floor. The beam of light from the device is striking the far side of the sundial.

If you had something shiny and reflective, you could probably make the light hit the gem.
